Four members of the same family died in a road accident involving a trailer and a private vehicle along Ahero-Isebania road at Kadongo Market.

Ahero-Isebania road is a new road engineered as part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s initiative to enhance connectivity in the region.

The highway connects Kenya to Tanzania and South Sudan from the summit of Mau to Narok.

Police claim that over-speeding and drunk driving are the key causes of accidents in the region.

Residents of these areas have been appealing to the contractor to set up temporary bumps on the highway.

This incident comes shortly after the  National Police Service, in cooperation with NTSA, recently announced that it will carry out major road operations in the country in an attempt to curb road accidents.

According to the latest report published by NTSA, between January 1 and September 30 2020, 2,689 people died in road accidents.

On the first weekend of October, 60 people lost their lives in collisions involving over-speeding and drunk driving.
