A hotel owner was on Monday February 22, 2020 shot dead by two gunmen who posed as customers in Busia County.
According to the police officers in the area, the incident took place at 8 p.m when the unidentified men accessed the Texas Annex hotel establishment.
It is reported the deceased and owner of the hotel Alfred Obayo, was allegedly seated at the balcony of the hotel when one of the two men drew a gun and shot him at close range.
The gunmen are said to have escaped after committing the crime. In a statement released by Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojammong , he condemned the act describing Obayo as one of the businessmen that had contributed to the growth of the hotel industry in the region.
“I urge the police to move with speed and investigate the cause of the incident and bring perpetrators to book; the era of business rivalry,” has no room in modern Kenya,” he said.
