Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced irregular power interruptions for areas situated along the Expressway corridor.
The company has began the relocation of power lines between Mlolongo, Mombasa Road and James Gichury Road. The transfer cables is aligned with the construction of the Nairobi Expressway which starts at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and ends at Waiyaki way.
The company in a press release on Thursday 24 September said the exercise is set to cost sh 1.08 billion. KeNHA is said to finance the expenditure.
It assured people living in the said areas that they’d ensure the exercise completed with minimal interruptions to power supply.
“The Company is planning to minimise power interruptions by leveraging the live line maintenance technology which will relocate most of the lines without switching off supply. We aim to keep the lights on even as we carry out this critical exercise,” said KPLC Managing Director Bernard Ngugi.
