On Saturday morning, January 2, there was an uproar as Baringo Senator Gideon Moi tried to gain access to a venue in Kapsisiywa, Nandi County.

The Nandi residents believed to be Deputy President William Ruto’s supporters blocked the entrance to the site where Senator Moi was scheduled to be crowned as a Kalenjin elder.

It was seen that the supposed DP Ruto supporters forced the Senator’s motorcade to reverse through the road and eventually out of the area.

In video clips shared online, the Senator was shown trying to negotiate with the residents from the sun roof of his vehicle.

It is unclear what might have motivated the residents to chase Senator Moi away, although some reports indicate that they were asking for a handout to allow the Senator to proceed.

Unconfirmed sources also implied that the elders of Talai had extended the invitation to Senator Moi.
