Lawyers who will be involved in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) judgment appeal have today held a case management conference at a Court of Appeal in Nairobi.
The lawyers appeared before a three-judge appellate bench on Wednesday June 2, purposely to deliberate on the timeline and logistics relating to the hearing of the BBI appeal case. The advocates also had an opportunity to discuss the amount of time each party will require to prepare and exchange submissions and the length of submissions.
Senior counsel James Orengo who is representing ODM leader Raila Odinga told the justice David Musinga-led bench that the lawyers would require four days to make a watertight case.
“Looking at the judgment, there were nearly 23 declarations made affecting our two clients, the hearing of this petition will be done in the full glare of the public, given that it is about our constitution, our suggestion would be four days for appeal,” he said.
