Businessman Arrested For Selling Military Land Worth Millions

On Thursday, December 3, a businessman was arrested for reportedly selling military land worth millions in Uasin Gishu county.

The man is reported to have sold a portion of the Eldoret Bullet Factory land belonging to the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to a Sacco, which ended up in a land dispute with the government.

According to the indictment sheet, the man is claimed to have faked the land’s title deed.

“The accused is charged with producing a false document purporting to be a letter signed by Col J.W. Michie and a deed plan No 380885 said to have been signed by a Mr J. Kibiru, a deed plan officer at Director of Survey’s office,” the document read.

The controversial multi-million shilling land in the region of Maili Tisa has been claimed by the army which uses it for training purposes.

The businessman is  expected to be arraigned in court to face fraud charges.
