On Monday, May 10, a Nairobi driver counted losses after his car landed in a ditch at Nyayo roundabout due to heavy flooding in the city.
The photos showed the car head-first in the ditch that was dug at Bunyala Road which had been previously closed off by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
According to reports, the driver was unable to detect the existence of the ditch due to heavy flooding that had rendered a number of roads throughout the city impassable. The trench was cut across the road on Uhuru Highway.
The accident occurred just two weeks after KeNHA closed the section of Uhuru Highway to motorists to allow for the completion of Nairobi Expressway, which is currently under construction.
The place was closed for 20 days in early April before being extended for an additional 21 days on Friday, April 30.
