The Chief Justice David Maraga has rejected goats offered as gifts to him by the Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala yesterday.

This is following Maraga’s Friday 25 September visit in Kakamega county to launch a new building that is set to be used as Kakamega Law Courts.

The senator saw it well to gift Maraga with three goats in which according to him symbolized the three arms of government; Judiciary, Executive and Legislature that should work together for the better part of the country.

The chief justices rejected the gifts citing the Judiciary conducts do not allow him take gifts.

“This donation puts me in a bad situation. First, if I’m not wrong, the senator has a case in one of the courts. These three goats would cost over sh 20,000 and I cannot accept the animals,” said the CJ.

The event was attended by Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Senator Malala and women representative Elsie Muhanda.

In his speech, Senator Malala asked the CJ to revoke his advisory to the President on dissolution of Parliament and urged him to mend issues with the executive.
