The cabinet secretary for education has announced the opening of schools for Grade 4, Class 8, and Form Four learners on Monday, 12th. October 2020.
Primary and secondary school teachers were already ordered to return to school in preparation for the eventual reopening of learning institutions.
Teachers were recalled first to aid in assessing the school’s readiness and put in place safety protocols including installation of handwashing areas, rearranging of desks in classrooms and beds in the dormitories to factor in social distancing.
According to an exam calendar released by the Ministry of Education, the KCPE exam will conducted for three days between March 22-March 24, 2020 while the Form Four candidates are set to write their KCSE test from March 25- April 16, 2020.
The students returning to school on Monday will continue with learning until December 23, 2020, when the second term will come to an end before proceeding for one-week Christmas holiday.
