Education CS George Magoha has issued a new Directive on the transfer of students from private schools to public schools.

The Directive also affected KCPE and KCSE candidates who had registered to take the exams in private institutions.

Magoha instructed the heads of primary and secondary schools to admit students from private institutions in January 2021.

He added that the candidates from private schools will be admitted to public schools temporarily.

“All pupils who cannot return to their private schools will be admitted in public schools. KCPE and KCSE candidates will learn in public schools, but they will return to the private schools during examinations time to enable them to sit for the exams,” the CS said.

The government failed to cushion private schools from the effects of Covid-19, choosing to support public schools and teachers enrolled under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
