Deputy President William Ruto gave Ksh 1 million to the Kenya national football team after watching them working hard for a chance to top Group G of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

Harambee Stars played at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani on Wednesday night, 11 November 2020, and the match ended on a 1-1 draw against ten men representing Comoros.

The DP was watching the match alongside Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama and other allies.

ODM leader and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was also present in the match played without fans due to covid-19 regulations.

After the game, the Deputy President gave an inspiring talk to the players, motivating them to win against Comoros on Sunday, November 15.

“Congratulations. You have done a good job. On behalf of the Government of Kenya, we are very proud of you and I will support you all the way.

“Coach (Ghost Mulee) We expect a better game on Sunday and we have to play well,” stated the Deputy President.

Ruto presented the cash in a brown envelope to team captain Victor Wanyama.
