Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria pleaded guilty to charges of flouting curfew when he was arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts on Tuesday 13 April.

The MP was slapped with a Ksh 75,000 fine or serve 8 months in prison. Kuria, alongside his 10 co-accused were found in violation of the ban on gatherings, not observing social distancing, failure to wear masks and being out during the curfew period.

In a short post on his official Facebook page, Kuria had stated he was being held at Karuri Police Station in Kiambu.

Earlier in the day, the police had arrested a woman said to be the wife of George Koimburi who Kuria is supporting.

“The cowards have arrested the wife to Hon George Koimburi, PEP Candidate for Juja. She will be arraigned in a Thika court tomorrow. But verily, verily I say unto you. Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Tukutane Thika asubuhi,” the MP said.
