On allegations of receiving threats, high court Judge James Wakiaga has withdrawn from the high profile case of the former Kabete member of parliament James Muchai’s death.

Judge James Wakiaga made the decision of withdrawal on Friday 10 July citing the environment could not let him conduct a meaningful trial.

He clarified on allegations of gross misconduct and incompetence that the suspect in question accused him of and reported to the Judicial Service Commission.

Late Muchai, his driver and two bodyguards were murdered on February 7 2015 when attackers intercepted his car at Kenyatta Avenue roundabout, Nairobi and opened fire.

James Wakiaga is not the first judge to withdraw in this case. As a common term in Kenya “justice is slow in corridors of power”
