High Court to Issue Final Ruling on BBI Petitions On Thursday

The Kenya Constitutional and Human Rights Courts is expected to deliver the final ruling on a number of petitions against the Constitutional Amendment (2020) Bill on Thursday.

Justices Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Jarius Ngaah, Janet Mulwa and  Chacha Mwita are set to make their judgement on seven petitions challenging the BBI process.

The ruling will be delivered at 2:30 p.m. via a virtual session in which all parties enjoined to the petition are expected to attend.

The consolidated petitions to be decided by the High Court were filed by economist David Ndii, Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), Thirdway Alliance, 254Hope, Justus Juma, Moraa Omoke, Isaac Aluochier and the Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI).

The court is expected to rule on whether the BBI referendum Bill was constitutional and whether President Uhuru Kenyatta followed constitutional regulations in forming the BBI taskforce.
