Homa Bay County Assembly has been closed for two weeks after one of the Members of the County Assembly tested positive for Covid-19.

Homa Bay becomes the third county to close down its offices in a period of three days in order to curb the spread of the virus.

A statement from the county health department confirmed an unknown MCA had his samples analyzed in Kisumu County and the outcome came back positive.

According to sources, the MCA is currently quarantined in one of the Covid-19 care facilities in Kisumu county.

John Kiasa, the Majority leader, disclosed to the media that, given the current trends, the leadership had agreed to close the assembly for two weeks in order to minimize the spread of the virus within the assembly. He further confirmed that all MCAs and staff were instructed to undergo compulsory coronavirus testing prior to resuming normal operations.

Kiasa further stated that County Health Surveillance officers had already visited the family members of the MCA who tested positive for the virus and obtained their samples.
