Hewlett Packard (HP) has exited from the East Africa market leaving hundreds of people jobless. Number of business partners have been left with no business citing “internal re-organization” arrangements.
Reports emerging show the market environment had become tough for the company hence it’s operations had become dormant.
HP which had been operating as a shell company for many years was faced with counterfeits and was also weighed down by Kenyan tax laws.
Early this month, it’s said the company held its annual meeting where they decided to shutdown business in Kenya. However, the notice was released recently to the media.
The company is said to have battled with Kenya Revenue Authority, counterfeit companies and Chinese industries producing cheaper products.
