On Wednesday, 23 December, the Interfaith Council for National Response to Coronavirus Pandemic released a new Church Services Directive to religious leaders.

In a press statement sent to media houses, the Council announced that the awareness drive would run for three days from Christmas Day.

“During the festive seasons, we are used to more interactions both within the family and in the community.

“As the Interfaith Council, we are asking all religious leaders to take some time during the services in this festive period, especially on the weekend of 25th, 26th and 27th to sensitive and educate the people on the real threats of Covid-19,” read the statement.

The Council asked religious leaders to carry out civic education on Covid-19 during the festive season to aid in the fight against the deadly virus.

The Council acknowledged that compliance with the preventive and control measures of Covid-19 should be limited not only to places of worship, but everywhere.
