A 37-year-old man has been arrested and taken into custody at the Kaptagat Police station after he allegedly murdered his 23-year-old wife in cold blood on Wednesday night.

Charles Laboso, the station’s OCS, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect repeatedly hacked his wife on the neck and feet with a machete.

According to the police chief, the two had a disagreement over an unspecified matter and were having marital problems.

The deceased’s body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.

Mr. Laboso urged residents to seek alternative dispute resolution avenues as the number of worrying incidents of gender-based violence increased.

This comes shortly after a prison warden from Mwingi’s Waita GK prison was arrested on suspicion of killing a woman and a child.

The victims were said to be living with the officer at the time of the shooting, but the reason for the shooting is still unknown.
