Mombasa police have started a manhunt for two armed men who shot dead an M-Pesa agent and ran away with undefined amount of money along Moi Avenue in Mombasa.
According to police reports, the 25-year-old Winnie Ombese was shot on the chest.
CCTV footage which recorded the shooting indicate the event occurred on Friday around 8:30 am.
Witnesses claim Ombese who worked at Shash Limited was on her way to the bank to deposit money before embarking on the day’s activity.
She succumbed to the gunshot wounds while being rushed to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.
From the CCTV footage, a man is seen alighting from a motorcycle and trying to grab a bag from Ombese, who tries to escape but is shot. He then grabs the bag from Ombese who had fallen on the ground.
The man and his accomplice then escaped the crime scene on a motorbike which had been waiting along as the incident was happening.
Mombasa DCI boss, Anthony Muriithi stated the robbers made away with an unknown amount of money.
