Senior staff at the Ministry of Interior under Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i lost property to the government in the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) crackdown.

The President of the EACC, Eliud Wabukala, added that the operation was enforced to civil servants at the National Lands Commission.

Employees in both government departments have lost more than 200 million Ksh and undisclosed public properties, which have been dubbed proceeds of crime and corruption.

“We have managed to trace and recover cash and public assets that were illegally acquired,” Wabukala stated.

Wabukala mentioned that land and other personal investments, which he hopes will be seized, are among the properties on the EACC radar.

The move comes a month after the EACC  cracked down on former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) employees. One of the former employees lost property that he had unlawfully purchased from the company.
