Mother And Son Survive After Being Saved From Drowning Car [PHOTOS]

A mother and her son were saved from drowning in a car they were driving in after it crashed into the Indian Ocean at Makupa Causeway.

Local divers were on-site to assist with the rescue. The boy was able to swim to safety while his mother was rescued by local divers.

The lady was rushed to the hospital for necessary medical attention after taking in a lot of water as she was stuck on her seatbelt.

“The car was moving at a high speed. I saw it heading towards Mombasa Island and all of a sudden I saw it in the ocean. I rushed to rescue the occupants,” said Mr. Omar Chigamba, a local who assisted in saving the woman.

The saloon car, a Toyota Vitz with two occupants, a lady and her son, was coming from Changamwe side towards Mombasa Island when the accident occurred.
