Police Initiates Manhunt For Driver After Crashing Bus Full Of Passengers

Police have launched a manhunt for a driver who fled after crashing a bus full of passengers in Gilgil, Nakuru.

On Saturday, November 28, Gilgil Deputy Subcounty Police Commander Henry Mbogo stated that the bus had 30 passengers.

Reports indicated that 13 passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Gilgil Subcounty Hospital. However, it was later reported that the 13 who were injured succumbed to their injuries.

Mbogo disclosed that the 30 occupants involved in the incident included children who were traveling back to Thika from a burial in Kangui, Ol Joro Orok, Nyandarua county.

Passengers accused the driver of over speeding and failing to observe traffic rules. The vehicle was taken to Gilgil police station.

NTSA revealed that there was an increase of  5.8% in road accidents as of October 31. 3,114 died that month as compared to 2,942 in October 2019.

The authority blamed accidents on reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, drunk walking, drunk riding, failure to wear helmets, among other issues.
