President Uhuru Declines to Sign Bill That Awards MPs 100 Thousand Shillings Monthly After Retirement.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has declined to sign a bill that awards retired members of parliament 100 thousand shillings on a monthly basis.

Parliament had earlier voted and passed the bills only to be disappointed while awaiting the president signature to make it into Law.

This meant that more than 375 former MPS would have their monthly pension rise to above Sh100,000 from the current low of Sh33,000.

The president has termed the bill too expensive as it adds additional burden to taxpayers in the quest to keep former lawmakers happy in retirement.
