In the midst of reports of growing tension between the team, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet is scheduled to go on a 3-day retreat.

Information regarding the Cabinet’s retreat was established when functions Deputy President William Ruto was scheduled to preside over were temporarily suspended to allow him to take part in the get-away after participating in fundraisers in Nyamira County.

“We have postponed tomorrow’s empowerment harambees in Mathioya and Kangema to October 30, 2020. This was occasioned by the full Cabinet retreat slated for today evening and tomorrow at Tsavo, Taita Taveta which William Ruto will be attending,” stated Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

The retreat also comes in light of news that President Kenyatta ordered Parliament leaders to meet up on Saturday, 17 October.

Irungu Kang’ata, Senate’s Majority Chief Whip revealed to the media that the retreat’s purpose is to groom the government’s businesses.

“The government is happy with the good work done by Senate in the last four months; we have processed a record 10 Bills including County Attorney Bill, County Revenue Appropriation Bill, and County Government Amendment Bill. We have entered into a historical deal where counties will get an extra Ksh.50 billion. I expect that we will discuss how to ensure government business flows in the House without a hitch,” stated Irungu Kang’ata.
