Kenya has secured another sh 6.4 billion loan from Korea’s Import Bank which will be directed towards constructing special lanes for high capacity buses.
The lanes will connect the Eastern Bypass to Thika Road. The project is set to be done with hope of restoring Outer ring Road’s glory.
The road has been experiencing traffic jam since the upgrade and subsequent opening.
National Treasury Secretary Ukur Yatani said the project will commence immediately the loan is received.
The outer ring road to Thika road will be redesigned to accommodate support facilities including footbridges and boarding stations.
This comes barely a week after the government secured 8 billion from Japan in order to boost the reopening of schools and shaping education sector.
