Safaricom Limited today announced plans to give customers phones, after which they will be paying partially at Ksh. 20 daily.
This was revealed when the company was announcing their Full Year 2019/20 Financial Results which was streamed live on their official Youtube page.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa noted that the success of the digital transformation is dependent on a stable and strong network, and they will ensure every Kenyan has access and enjoys the rapid digital dividends that have been occasioned through solutions to curb Coronavirus.
We intend to bridge the gap for these consumers by offering a device financing program dubbed the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo campaign. This campaign in partnership with Google and Teleone, is the first of its kind the world giving customers access to quality 4G phones with a flexible payment plan” Ndegwa said.
Ndegwa said the phones will help customers who earn daily acquire smartphones after which they pay as low as Ksh. 20 daily.
“Lipa Mdogo Mdogo will help the mwananchi who earn their wages daily acquire a range of smartphones and pay in easy daily installments for as low as Kshs 20 while enjoying all the benefits that comes with being digitally connected,” he said, further stating when the project will be launched.
He said that Safaricom is piloting the project with the aim of launching by the end of quarter one. In this financial year Lipa Mdogo Mdogo will enable an additional one million customers to access and leverage the power of the internet.
“We aren’t stopping there, we will use global trends and innovative digital enterprise solutions such as Big Data and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to create new ways in which challenges are analysed and solved,” he said.
