Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina claimed President Uhuru Kenyatta has succeeded in controlling the Parliament, hence the House can no longer oversight the Executive.
The lawmaker lamented that leaders of committees were being forced to comply with the head of state’s directives and those who defied were ousted.
Posting on Twitter, the legislator said consequently, Kenya was on a borrowing spree and not even the members of parliament could stop it.
“President Uhuru has succeeded in controlling Parliament. We can no longer check the executive. Leadership of Committees must toe the line or you are shown the door. This is why Kenya is in a borrowing spree and not even parliament can stop it. That’s the reality, naked truth,” said Ledama.
This comes amid when netizen who are in anger decide to protest online against the Washington-based lender to reject Kenya’s future loan applications and the newly approved kshs 255 Billion, saying the huge borrowings would only serve to sink the country into debt.
According to reports, Kenya’s public debt currently stands between KSh 7.3Â which is equivalent to about 65% of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
