Panic in Ahero village in Maili Tisa, Bahati sub-county in Nakuru after a 66-year-old man was found on Sunday beheaded and his head thrown into a water tank with body dumped in a garbage pit.
The man identified as Peter Ndung’u Kinyanjui, 66, a well-known resident in the area was living with his 42-year-old son.
According to the man’s sister-in-law Grace Wambui, they believe that a man’s son might have committed the murder since he was suffering from mental health problems.
According to Wambui, the son, identified as Samuel Kinyanjui, skipped his monthly health check-up after telling his relatives he could not because his clothes were dirty.
She said he was a cool person who never provoked anyone.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, who visited the family, condemned a rise in drug abuse and a high rate of murders in the region
“We have seen planting of bhang in some parts of Wanyororo. It is a worrying situation and we need to take more efforts in eradicating the menace,” Ngunjiri said.
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika expressed concern about the prevalent murders in Bahati, many of them involving domestic disturbances.
