Former employees who were recently sacked at the troubled retailer Tuskys have staged demonstrations at Nairobi city demanding their pay.

The former staff members who had been hired on contract have accused the retailer for taking them in circles for the last three months with no pay.

According the leader of the demonstration Owiti, some of the laid off workers had been given post dated cheques in which they doubt if they’ll be honoured.

“Some of us have post dated cheques which were told to cash at the end of the month, while others have cheques which have not been signed. How can you bank a cheque which is not signed?” Owiti was quoted.

Earlier before they began the pickets, Tuskys Human Resource Manager Francis Kimani tried to calm them not to stage the demonstrations.

He told them he would address their grievances in the coming week but they were not buying any of that. The retailer is the currently the largest in Kenya.
