Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i reported that President Uhuru Kenyatta had extended the dusk to dawn curfew to 12th of March.

On Sunday, January 3, Matiang’i spoke at the Kenyatta National Conference Center (KICC) following an eagerly anticipated National Emergency Response Committee meeting.

The dusk to dawn curfew beginning at 10:00 p.m. and ending at 4 a.m has been effective since the President’s address in November.

The CS clarified that the head of state extended the curfew in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 even as the school calendar resumes on Monday, January 4.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended some of the containment measures ahead of the re-opening of schools.

“We realise we are not in the usual place, because of Covid-19. The President has issued an executive order to ensure the health of our children thus an extension of the curfew,” he stated.
