A bus full of students from Kenyatta University and a few staff members rolled multiple times and crashed in a ditch along the Thika-Kitui Highway.
According to sources, the driver of the poorly maintained bus, who is said to have been over speeding, fled the scene after the crash.
Residents and motorists immediately assisted students and workers out of the car, all of whom have emerged unhurt.
Police officers have since launched the driver’s search operation.
The accident comes days after a bus full of passengers crashed in Gilgil, Nakuru, while leaving a burial in Nyandarua County.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), road accidents escalated in 2020 compared to a similar time in 2019.
The authority says that irresponsible driving, careless overtaking, drunk driving, drunk walking, drunk biking, failure to wear helmets, among other problems, are some of the causes that have contributed to the increase in road accidents.
