WHO Intervenes As South Africa’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 520k

World Health Organisation (WHO) has dispatched a team of experts to south Africa after the country’s COVID-19 cases hit 520,000.

The country’s surging cases raised an alarm hence WHO’s intervention to help fight the pandemic.

Currently South Africa is said to be  among the top 5 countries with the highest number of reported cases. As at Wednesday the country had recorded 521,318 cases and 8,884 deaths.

WHO deployed 43 experts from different fields including seasoned infectious disease epidemiologist.

“WHO is responding to a request for help by sending 43 specialists, with several arriving on Wednesday, August 5,” said Zweli SA’s Minister of Health.

WHO announced there will be community mobilization and health education experts too.
