A KRA official allegedy shot a woman at a bar

A senior officer at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly shooting a woman inside a club in Mombasa on the night of Saturday, May 23.

According to articles by Standard the unidentified top KRA administrator was in the company of the woman at the bar ignoring the dusk-to-dawn curfew, and the closure order for all bars and clubs.

Mombasa County Criminal Investigations Officer Anthony Muriithi disclosed that the police had launched investigations into the motive of the shooting.

“We understand the suspect is a KRA official and want to establish what exactly happened,” the investigations officer intimated to the publication while informing that his firearm had been confiscated.

He also added that the KRA officer’s firearm was also confiscated following the  incident.

The injured woman was taken to Jocham Hospital where she is undergoing treatment as police launch investigations.

The KRA official had been transferred from Western Kenya and posted to the KRA’s Customs and Border Control, Kilindini Shed 5 Station.

The shooting incident that took place at the Makupa area of  Mombasa County, continued the spate of gender assault cases since the curfew was declared.

Ever since the dusk to dawn curfew was implemented a lot of Kenyans have been arrested in clubs and bars including government officials.
