After the Kirinyaga member of the county assembly, Anthony Gathumbi submitted a petition letter to ouster the governor of Kirinyaga to the senate speaker Ken Lusaka, Ann Waiguru has moved to court trying to stop the process.

The governor lamented that the ward representatives acted against the court order from the high court that blocked her earlier impeachment on the basis of COVID 19.

On her presentation, through her lawyer Gatonya this was submitted;

“Pending hearing and determination of this application, court does issue a conservatory order stopping the county assembly of Kirinyaga, any other body or authority from discussing, seizing, deliberating or otherwise acting upon the impeachment motion in respect to Ms Waiguru,”  Further, to allow the impeachment proceedings to proceed while othe order of this Honourable court subsists is to allow mockery of the orders issued by this court and renders the orders of this court in vain,”

The motion to impeach Ann Waiguru was moved by 23 MCAs out of 33 on the basis of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
