Experts have revealed to the world after they found out patients previously infected by the Corona Virus may be re-infected  after a span of 90 days.

The research was carried out by analysts from King’s College London who examined the levels of antibodies in more than 90 COVID-19 patients. Blood tests showed even individuals with mild COVID-19 symptoms mounted some immune response to the virus.

Also 60% of the patients had some potent viral response to the virus a few weeks after infection. After three months, the percentage of those who had maintained a high level of COVID-19 neutralizing antibodies had dropped down to 16.7%. This meant that the immunity against the virus should not be taken for granted.

“This is an important study that starts to define the long-term dynamics of the antibody response to SARS-CoV-2,” said Lawrence Young, professor of Molecular Oncology at the University of Warwick. He added, “It further emphasizes the need for us to better understand what a protective immune response looks like if we are to develop an effective vaccine.”

This new research will have to be put into consideration as governments are planning on re-opening its economies.
