KRA Hits A New Target In Tax Collection

The Kenya Revenue Authority has hit a new record in the collection of tax despite tough economic times during this COVID-19 pandemic.

KRA has managed to amass sh 1.607 trillion compared to sh 1.580 trillion in the previous 2018/2019 financial year.

It thus collected sh 27 billion more which translates to 97.9% rate in performance and a 1.7% revenue growth compared to 2018/2019 financial year.

Githinji Mburu, Commissioner General said they also collected Ksh. 97.1 billion as Agency fee.

“This is revenue collected on behalf of other government agencies mainly at the ports of entry. They include Road maintenance Levy, Airport Revenue Aviation Revenue and Petroleum Development Fund amongst other levies,” Githinji said.

It is said growth was accredited  to increased and early remittance from the the finance insurance and manufacturing sectors.
