Mathare United have fired head coach Salim Ali as a result of the club’s poor performance in the FKF Premier League.

The club confirmed on Tuesday, May 18 that former Gor Mahia assistant coach Frank Ouna has been tasked with keeping the club a float as they face relegation threat.

Out of the 14 matches played, the Slum Boys only registered one win against Nzoia Sugar back in February.

They would have had two wins if their 2-0 victory over Zoo FC in January had not been canceled following FIFA’s decision on May 4 to relegate Zoo FC to Division One after they were found culpable of match-fixing.

This leaves Mathare with seven points from their one win and four draws after losing matches to Sofapaka, Gor Mahia, Ulinzi Stars, Tusker, Bidco United, Nairobi City Stars, Kakamega Homeboyz, Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks.

Club CEO Jacktone Obure said Ouna will be in charge until the end of the season.

Former Harambee Stars coach Bobby Williamson is also expected to join the new-look technical bench.
