Embu based prison warder who disappeared from duty yesterday armed with a G3 rifle one Mr. Edwin Omuse, has been arrested. The agitated officer left his Kangeta GK prison work station carrying the carefully concealed riffle in a sack.
Earlier, Omuse was overheard saying he would travel to Thika town and eliminate the lady whom he accused of defrauding him Ksh900,000. Money he had struggled so much to obtain from a loaning institution.
Details emerged on how Omuse took loan to fund the lifestyle of the school going girlfriend.
In a bid to save the girlfriend’s life, detectives from the Special Service Unit supported by the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau counterparts immediately swung into action, found the girlfriend’s location and moved her to safety.
When Omuse arrived in Thika, he accessed the girlfriend’s house using a spare key. He took time and assembled the firearm before calling his alleged girlfriend to come see him.
This is when detectives pounced on him. The G3 firearm with 20 rounds of 7.62 mm calibre ammunition was also recovered at the scene.
Recently the rate of suicide and ‘love gone sour’ murder related incidences have increased with the investigating agency warning young ladies particularly those in Universities and Colleges to be wary of men whose bond of love is premised on monetary cords.
