Through his social media handle, Raila Odinga pointed he is set to meet the man who steered him through lake Victoria on a rickety boat to Uganda as he fled for exile in Norway.
The journey to a new Kenya has been rough. I am looking forward to meeting Robert Njura shortly, a then 19-year old form three student at Makunda Secondary school in Budalangi who steered me in a rickety boat across Lake Victoria to Uganda as I fled to exile in Norway in 1991.
Raila Odinga went to exile in Norway during the Moi regime as he heard of assassination attempts from the then, Kenyan government.
Through the help of friends as police were viciously looking for him, only Norway had offered him asylum.
