Kenya women volleyball team beat Algeria

Kenya women volleyball team beat Algeria to win their ninth African title and to earn an entry to the World Cup finals set for October 2015 in Japan.

The Malkia strikers beat Algeria in straight sets of 25-17, 25-21, 25-20 in a sensational final played at Kasarani Gymnasium, on Saturday.

Kenya won the Cup of Nations’ championships in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013 and now 2015, with yesterday’s match being a classic third final matchup between two African giants of the game in eight years.

Kenya’s Evelyn Makuto was also named the Most Valuable Player.

“I think that Kenya is too much for us now, I was missing two dependable players but still we cannot dislodge them for at least the next one year,” Algeria’s Italian coach François Salvagni said.
