The Government is set to issue bars with new rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the institutions.

Part of the new directives will require bars to hire a Covid-19 liaison officer who will serve as a link between the government and the bars.

The officers will be tasked with limiting the number of revelers in the bar to comply with the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 Social Distancing Protocols.

They will also be required to report any suspected case of Covid-19 either among the workers or revelers in the regulations that are yet to be announced.

“Every establishment shall appoint and adequately train a Covid-19 liaison officer. The liaison officer shall be the point of contact with the Ministry of Health, Sub County Liquor Licensing Committee and other sector players, keep abreast of the emerging health, safety and hygiene information and preventive measures related to Covid-19,” read part of the regulations.
