Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, is shedding light on boarding schools which are likely to remain closed in January 2021 when schools will be re-opening.
According to The Star, Magoha claimed most of the boarding schools did not have the capacity to enact safety protocols put in place by the government as measures to curb the pandemic.
CS Magoha cited inadequate accommodation facilities to help maintain social distancing, insufficient water supply and limited sickbays as some of the factors that may compel the ministry to close boarding schools.
The CS further said should the COVID-19 cases continue to surge, then the government might be forced to use some of the boarding schools as isolation centres.
