Due to the coronavirus pandemic that has hit the globe,measures were put in place to stop the spread of the disease; schools being closed was one of the major blows to combat this disease.

President Uhuru Kenyatta suspended learning in all institutions on March 15 this year till to date and the government through the Cabinet Secretary of education have put on proposals on how learners would go back to school and adhere to the new norm.

Mr Magoha today cited that schools, if opened in September, the KCSE and KCPE exams might be done in April.  This will largely depend on the feasible results shown by efforts to fight the pandemic.

Appearing on a senate committee chaired by Johnstone Sakaja, Magoha noted;

“In terms of the new calendar, the government has to consider which is the latest time that we can reopen schools and still do exams,” Magoha added that  “The process is ongoing and I think within two weeks, we shall be able to know whether we open in September, we can still do the exams perhaps sometime in April next year.”

“In terms of the examination timetable, for now, we are hoping, after we consulted the parents, that the latest we can do the exams and still escape in April. Beyond April, we must declare what I don’t want to say here,” he said.
