A family in Kasarani, Nairobi County, is seeking justice after CCTV footage showed their relative identified as Genson Mbuba, collapsed and died moments after leaving the police station.
Talking to the press, his family members said that the late Mbuba, who worked as a caretaker, had no underlying illness, nor had he been ill prior to his arrest.
The family says that the late Mbuba died due to injuries inflicted at the police station where the 37-year-old man had been held in custody.
“These results (postmortem) are also shocking to me because the last day I saw him, he did not show any problems and did not tell me about any illness.
“After our interaction, now I find him at the City Mortuary. I am so saddened as his sister because if he had any problem, they (police) could have called me to take him to hospital,” Mbuba’s sister Hannet Murugi told Citizen TV.
