FAI Chief John Delaney confirmed on Thursday that he agreed with Sepp blatter on the issue.

FIFA have been dragged into a new bribery scandal over the infamous Thierry Henry handball that wrecked Ireland’s World Cup dreams.

Irish FA chief executive John Delaney admitted FIFA gave his association £3.7million to buy their silence following defeat to France in a play-off for the 2010 tournament.

The revelation has brought fresh shame on world football’s scandal-hit governing body.

It is understood Henry has no knowledge of the pay-off.

The former Arsenal striker controlled the ball with a hand before crossing for William Gallas to score the extra-time goal that booked France’s place in South Africa at Ireland’s expense.
