Bonnke was born in 1940 in Königsberg, Germany. The city on the Baltic Sea is now called Kaliningrad, and is part of Russia.He became involved in missionary work in Africa at a very young age and in 1974 founded the Christ For All Nations mission organisation, which was headquartered in South Africa and later in Germany.

The family lives in the United States but Bonnke was best-known for his work with the Christ For All Nations organisation throughout Africa.The Pentecostal preacher oversaw more than 79 million conversions to Christianity, his organisation confirmed.

At huge rallies – including one in Lagos, Nigeria in 2000 that was said to have drawn 1.6 million people. Bonnke’s life was always in a mission to pursue people for christ and most importantly into christianity. “It’s no exaggeration to say that his work transformed the continent,

Bonnke’s held a farewell gospel campaign in 2017 in Nigeria, after which he stepped down as the organisation’s leader due to health issues.Recently on November 12, he told followers on Facebook that he had undergone surgery on his right femur bone. He wrote that he was doing well but that he needed to take a few weeks to learn how to walk again.

He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, his wife Annie Bonnke confirmed in a statement. Bonnke is survived by three children, Kai-Uwe Bonnke, Gabrielle Bonnke, and Susie Bonnke, as well as eight grandchildren.

The family has asked mourners to make a donation to his church Christ for all Nations (CfaN) – Africa Crusade in lieu of flowers.
