Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge has emerged the winner of the men’s London Marathon 2015! Some good news there.

Kenya is always known for emerging victorious in marathon races and this was no exception. Kipchoge, the 5,000m world champion in 2003, finished five seconds in front of another Kenyan athlete, Wilson Kipsang in a tightly contested race.

Kipsang, the 2012 and 2014 winner, came  ahead of world record holder Dennis Kimetto, who completed in the third position making it an all Kenyan affair.

This is what Kipchoge had to say

“The race was good and I feel OK.  This is a major championships and it was like an Olympic Game.”

“To only have 500 metres to go and be next to someone like Kipsang shows this is a major competition. The crowd were wonderful and they lifted my spirits.”

Kipsang also had this to say:

“This is one of the best races and a really strong field. I’m happy for my friend to have won and for me as defending champion to run a good time and get second place, I’m really happy. It was a very tough race but a fantastic one.”

We are definitely proud of our athletes for emerging champions and representing the country well.
