Nairobi county will no longer offer security services to public primary schools effective September.

A letter by regional director of Education Jared Obiero to Kenya Primary School Heads Association affirmed the same.

While referencing communication from county chief officer for Education Gender and Social Services Ruth Owour, he urged school heads to make alternative security plans until a “lasting solution” is found.

“Nairobi county will terminate the services of vickers security and magic security firms  from August 31, 2020. Headteachers are asked to attend the handover in their respective schools September 1,” read the letter.

This comes a time when schools were closed following the Corona virus pandemic and amid preparations to reopen them.

However it is reported that school heads are unhappy with the move as they claim the school property is at risk.
