Tanzania’s President Magufuli warned by WHO against giving false hope on Coronavirus

Tanzanian president Dr John pombe Magufuli has been criticised over his failures to bring into effect covid-19 spread preventive measures in his country.

The country ‘s lawmakers have been lobbying for the country to find alternative ways to cure covid-19 including herbal medicine. Currently the country has got 480 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths have been reported.

He has been on record saying that he would resort to using herbal medicine in his country from Madagascar after it was alleged to cure Coronavirus.

This was after it was announced by madagascar’s president; Andry Rajoelina that the country had found herbal cure for covid-19.

WHO’s Director general, Dr Tedros Adhanom has asked countries to be cautious before treating its citizens using the herbal medicine. He asked the countries to follow scientifically proven methods to test the efficacy and the side effects of the medicine.

WHO said it supported scientifically proven traditional medicine, it said that unproven medicine might people in danger by giving them a false sense of security and cause defiance to social distancing.
