An identified woman dumped her newborn baby in a 15-feet deep septic tank moments after giving birth leaving it dead.
The sad incident happened in Mkaomoto area, Malindi sub-county. It is said a passer-by heard the infant crying hence raised an alarm alerting residents who came to rescue the baby.
It is reported one of the residents went down to the septic tank with a ladder. According to one of the witnesses, the baby was placed in an open box without clothes while still crying after being rescued.
Two snakes had surrounded the baby when it was being rescued and luckily they did not harm the baby.
The child was taken to Malindi sub-county hospital and medical personnel after an examination found the baby was in good conditions.
Police have launched a search for the baby’s mother with many people condemning the evil act.
